Y Combinator put out a new 'Request For Startups' today. The title? "Kill Hollywood".
Kudos.
The music and movie industries in the USA have a long record of aggressively protecting their business interests far beyond what one could consider normal. The SOPA / PIPA bills are just one example. People running these industries have powerful political lobbies and it would be a very very good thing when they pass into oblivion.
Note that I said 'when' and not 'if'. This is because I believe this will ultimately happen. It will not happen this year, or the next. It will probably not happen in 2020 too. But at the end, 20 or 30 years from now, Hollywood will be just a place. Historical and beautiful, but just a place.
